Dave has been in the advertising business for more than 30 years as an art director, Creative Director and co-founder of Garrison Hughes. His award-winning work for local, regional and national clients was recognized in 2006 when he was inducted into the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement. He’s worked for both large and small agencies, including Kelly Michener in Lancaster, Ketchum, Blattner Brunner, and Werner Chepelsky & Partners/Mullen. He and partner Bill Garrison started the agency in 2003 and have grown from a 2-person shop into one of the city’s Top 10 agencies, with 60+ employees, 2 offices and a blue-chip roster of clients. The agency is now proudly employee-owned. Over the years, Dave and Bill won more than 200 Pittsburgh ADDY Awards, including three Best of Show honors and numerous regional and national Addys. Their campaigns have received Obie, The One Show, ANDY, and PRSA Awards as well as being featured in Communication Arts Advertising Annual. Their work for Zippo Lighters was also named a Kelly Award finalist for being one of the 25 best magazine campaigns in the country. Dave is a graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and lives in Mt. Lebanon with his wife Leslie. You’d be surprised to know that Dave’s paintings have hung in the state capital and won Best of Show at the Port Royal Fair back in 1977. He is still deciding on what his next masterpiece will be.
